Day 8| Snorkeling Trip to St Anne Marine National Park
Mason’s
bus on the Berjaya porch brought a smile on my face reminding of their services
in Praslin. These guys are always on time and their Bus Driver to their tour
manager, everyone is always welcoming you with a smile.
We
were taken to the Mahe port area, from where we had to take the Cataraman to
the Island/ Marine Park. We waited for all the passengers to arrive before
boarding. After about half an hour’s trip, we entered the Marine Park Area,
where we were transferred to a glass bottom boat. This was a smaller boat,
where we can sit and see the corals and fishes through the glass bottom of the
boat.
You
also get to feed some bread crumbs to the fishes. As soon as you put some
crumbs, you will find a whole swarm of fishes running upto your boat, as close
as you can pick a fish out of water.
After
this we visit the Cerf Island and snorkel around the beach. It was quite similar trip as Day 3, and
completed the snorkeling experience in the Seychelles Islands. The fishes here
were dangerous though, especially the silver ones. There were less parrot
fishes here than in the cousin and St Pierre islands, but variety was more.
Corals were dead in some places and where there were live corals, it was too
near the water surface, for fishes to come right up to you. I had some close
encounters with fishes here, so it’s advisable to not go near the shallow side.
We
spent about 1:30-2 hours here and then proceeded to the St Anne Marine Island.
There was an on-board lunch, which was a completely creolean’ offering. St Anne Marine Island had a museum and a resort
and its beach had some turtles lying around. We roamed here for about an hour,
after which we headed back to Victoria, Mahe. On our way, we were shown Moyenne
Island and other small islands that came across. These islands are also visible
from the viewpoint while travelling to Beau vallon from Victoria.

In
the evening, we were pretty tired so we decided to try our Resort’s restaurant.
This restaurant has a different International Buffet menu served every night.
Tonight was French Buffet, and it had a good variety of dishes so that left us
quite satisfied for the day.

About author: Prateek
I am a travel enthusiast and love to plan my trips, weeks in advance to let the whole energy of a traveller sink in. Thus, I travel the same places, where most tourists go, but instead of spending time in sightseeing of common spots, I travel to lesser known but places, which make you feel more closer to nature and peace and stay with you as memory, more than what a photograph can keep.I also keep a good time in my itinerary to interact with locals and absorb their culture and day to day activities. Like everyone, I wish to travel as many places as I can.
