Day 5| Trek to “the Beach” – through the Coastal Jungles
This has to be my best day in Seychelles.
We had a usually start to our morning, but as we were informed by Robert, we had to catch the first ferry that leaves 7:15 AM. Thus, we had to be ready in time and reach jetty 30 mins prior in order to buy tickets. We had arranged a Taxi driver to pick us from Berjaya at 6:30 AM. Driver was arranged by the Farish Shop owner(right at the gate of our Hotel) in 150 SR.
Praslin Jetty
Luckily, we managed to get the ferry and proceeded to our meeting spot, i.e at the restaurant on Anse’ de’ Argent beach. The trek was supposed to start by 8 AM. Since, the restaurant does not start serving, we were happy to carry snacks with us. Although, we could freshen up here for a while.
We had to cross a certain area in our trek in waist high water, so it was important that the trek starts in time, as if we cross during low tide, water level could be higher.

We crossed through several rocks, some parts in ocean, some parts through jungle to reach one of the most peaceful and inaccessible beaches, i.e Anse Marron. It could be only explained through the pictures I have enclosed in this post. It was a good 3-3.5 hours trek
We stayed here for 2 hours, and there was no one to disturb us. We had the entire beach for ourselves. A complete Robinson crusoe experience. It was simply great to enjoy nature, beaches in true style. Meanwhile, Robert prepared a citrus fruit platter for us. Believe me it was very much like a buffet in a desert, as we relished it so much, that we did not leave a single thing on plate. The journey was certainly tiring but, the Beach was well worth it.

The only thing to worry about was the onward journey. By this time we are so tired, climbing, jumping, walking in water, crossing through highs and lows that to hear a trek forward for another 1-2 hours sounded like a daunting task.
Also, after a lovely swim in the water and that awesome citrus, who would care to walk more, but to sleep under the shade of any palm tree? Anways, we had to proceed as Robert had 2 other couples to cater to, and we were trekking as a group.
Grand Anse'
At the end of the trek, we reached the Grand Anse Beach, La Digue by around 3:30 PM. We spent some time lazying around at the beach and had a couple of beers to relax and gain some energy. Robert had arranged a ride back for us to the Jetty, which was quite helpful, as we had no energy left to walk or ride a cycle. Robert was very courteous and is highly recommended. He runs a personal website and has several treks to offer in Seychelles and around Islands. His cousin owns a boat, so he organizes fishing trips and snorkeling trips as well. He runs the website by the name of Sunny Trail Guide. You can access it here.
The Beach
We took the last ferry back as usual, but only we know, how much we missed staying back at La Digue..!! Sigh..!! A big Sigh...!!
However, we somehow managed the public bus to the Hotel and fell in our bed as soon as we reached our room. We woke up at 9, feeling really hungry and tired, so we decided to have a buffet like mega meal to suffice our hunger.
One such place we had heard of Les Lauriers. Its a perfect place for a grand feast. Simply loved the food here from salads to main course to dessert, everything is absolutely relishing. Read more about it here.

About author: Prateek
I am a travel enthusiast and love to plan my trips, weeks in advance to let the whole energy of a traveller sink in. Thus, I travel the same places, where most tourists go, but instead of spending time in sightseeing of common spots, I travel to lesser known but places, which make you feel more closer to nature and peace and stay with you as memory, more than what a photograph can keep.I also keep a good time in my itinerary to interact with locals and absorb their culture and day to day activities. Like everyone, I wish to travel as many places as I can.
